IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
The Public Meeting announced in the latest newsletter which was to be held at the Winter Gardens on Sunday 13th June 2010 has been cancelled. The meeting has been re-scheduled for Thursday 24th June at 7pm in the Winter Gardens. Sorry for any inconvenience which may have been caused.
English Lakes appoint new General Manager to Hotel.
Matt Redhead left as manager of the hotel in September this year due to family commitments. As most of you know he came to the hotel two years ago when it was still under re-construction with Urban Splash, and was 'at the helm' for over 15 months after it re-opened. The committee and the group enjoyed a very good relationship with Matt who hosted two of our weekends in 2008 and 2009 respectively. He has returned to his native Cornwall to be with his family, and although we are sorry to see him go we wish him all the best in the future.
As a result of Matts resignation, English Lakes Hotels have appointed Matt Stanaway as the new manager of the hotel. We are looking forward to working with Matt and hope to forge a good relationship with him in the coming months.

Forthcoming Events at the Midland
MURDER MYSTERY EVENING – Saturday 12th June
The date is April 14th 1912, the venue – RMS Titanic. You know there is not going to be a happy ending. However, a sinking ship will be the last thing on your mind, as someone is using this disaster as an excuse to commit murder! Step aboard to meet the characters during our drinks reception, then enjoy a sumptuous three course dinner whilst being entertained by the After Dark Theatre company as the events unfold before your eyes. Collect evidence throughout the evening and submit your theory to the Inspector, with the best detectives taking home the coveted winners’ trophy.
The evening begins at 7pm with drinks in the lobby, followed by a three course dinner, and will finish at around 10.30pm.

The social event of the year! Join us at the height of summer for our Rat Pack themed summer ball. Meet your fellow gangsters and molls for drinks in the lobby before being whisked away for dinner in our Eric Gill Suite. Ol’ Blue Eyes will be in attendance to seduce you with the swing classics from the Rat Pack era. After watching the breathtaking sunset over the Bay, things will really get going with a disco until midnight.
The evening will commence at 7pm with drinks, followed by a 3 course dinner with entertainment until midnight.

JAZZ EVENINGS
We will be hosting jazz evenings every fortnight in our Rotunda bar, commencing Wednesday 17th March. The evenings will begin at 7.30pm as the High Society Jazz Band play all your traditional jazz favourites. Special food menus will be served until 9pm, and there will be drinks offers available throughout the evening. If you book a booth for a minimum of 6 people, you will receive a complimentary bottle of wine on the night.

URBAN SPLASH DEVELOPMENT PLANS OF MORECAMBE CENTRAL PROMENADE.
A copy of 'The Friends' letter outlining the procedure for accessing the Lancaster City Council Website to view the Development Plans, together with sketches of the impact the development will have on the hotel, and a template of the objection letter can be viewed and downloaded by clicking on the link below. There is a public meeting being held on Thursday 24th June 2010 at the Winter Gardens, Marine Road, Morecambe at 7pm to discuss the proposals. ALL WELCOME!
